Protecting the Community

[This only pertains to Dartmouth College for the moment]

[This to pertains to Columbia University and Dartmouth College]

In order to create a new account you must be in the vicinity of the network you want to join. This is done automatically and doesn't require anything special on your part. This also does not affect existing users in any way (you can log in from anywhere no problem). Basically, you cannot create a new account unless you're close to campus.

The next addition in the works: If you are off campus and want to create a new account, you'll have to verify your affiliation by receiving a one-time email to a valid email address. The email used for verification is not stored or recorded in any way. It will only be used once to send an email verification. This will only pertain to users who 1) want to create a new account and 2) are off campus.

Remember: none of this affects existing users in any way. You can log in from any location and never have to use an email address for anything. The additions made are only to protect the community from outside invaders (i.e. 4chan, randos from Europe, etc). The additions were made in the best interest of protecting the community.

I will never compromise the strength of complete and totally anonymity. I hold anonymity important and absolute above all things.

Jae
